Surgical day hospital operator PresMed Australia has been celebrating the launch of new facilities and a milestone in treatment.
The company recently opened Sydney’s brand-new Epping Surgery Centre after a 14-month, $5 million construction process.
It was built on a new site around two kilometres away from the old Epping Surgery Centre, which closed its doors after 18 years of servicing the community, having been established in 2004.
The new eye centre has been fitted out with the latest advancements and technologies available for its 12 ophthalmologists and 21 staff in the heart of the Northern Sydney suburb.
The two-theatre, state-of-the-art facility has precision instrumentation, high-tech equipment and exacting sterilisation procedures alongside its specialist nursing and administration staff.
PresMed Managing Director Marc Resnik said the opening was a positive boost to the local economy and community.
“Our group is affiliated with Sydney University through our registrar training program as well as conducting a new graduate ophthalmic nursing program,” he said.
“We treat patients from one year upwards on a full suite of ophthalmic procedures.”
New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet extended his congratulations to the staff.
“To have such high-quality care locally available to the people of Epping is a great benefit for our community as well as for those who come from outside the area to make use of the cutting-edge services on offer,” he said.
PresMed Australia is also celebrating 150,000 episodes of care for the group, which has grown to eight-day hospitals since 1997.
Chatswood Private Hospital in Sydney's Lower North Shore hosted the milestone patient, Denise Ford, who said she was “very pleased to have been selected and it was a pleasant surprise”.
Mrs Ford and her medical team were treated with cupcakes on the day to mark the occasion.
Mr Resnik offered his congratulations to all the staff and management teams at each of PresMed Australia’s facilities for their contributions to achieving the group's collective 150,000th surgery.
“A milestone of 150,000 surgeries is a significant achievement for our group,” he said.
“This underscores our commitment to excellence in day surgery and patient care.”
